Release the Pressure in the Fuel Lines

Before you change an injector or a fuel filter, release the pressure in the fuel lines. Remove the negative battery terminal, then place a shop towel under and around the Shrader valve. With the key off, press a small screwdriver onto the Shrader valve on the fuel line in the engine compartment until fuel stops dripping from the line.

Even though you’ve done this, be prepared to catch fuel when you remove the filter & it won’t spray you since you released the pressure, but it will still drip as the fuel filter will still have gas in it.
